Cubigel Compressor Guide: Series, Refrigerants and Specifications
Cubigel is a hermetic compressor brand of Spanish origin, and our catalogue lists its models on R134a, R404A, R290 and R600a. This guide shows which refrigerant each Cubigel series runs on, which application classes the series fall into in the datasheets, and how to read the capacity values.
Which country is Cubigel from?
Cubigel is a brand of Spanish origin; its predecessor, Unidad Hermética, was founded in 1962 (Huayi history page). Huayi Group’s purchase of Cubigel was announced in 2012 (RAC Plus, August 2012). That is why “Cubigel” and “Huayi” are often mentioned together; in some of the Cubigel datasheets in our catalogue the manufacturer is named as Changhong Huayi Compressor Co., Ltd. Huayi states on its own site that it is the number one worldwide hermetic compressor manufacturer.
Cubigel series and refrigerants
For the Cubigel models with datasheet data, the opening letters of the model code match the refrigerant. The application classes below are the values written in the manufacturer datasheets of the models concerned.

Models with the same series and the same number can fall into different classes; for example the ML 80 FB is LBP, while the ML 80 TB is HBP-MBP. The class should therefore be read from the datasheet of the model, not from the series name. How to read capacity in a Cubigel datasheet
Cubigel datasheets give nominal performance under two separate standards: ASHRAE (kcal/h) and CECOMAF (W). The test conditions of the two standards differ. For example, in the datasheet of the Cubigel NUT 55 CA R290:

Every value in the datasheet should be read together with its own test conditions. The same datasheet also gives the swept volume in cm³. In the Cubigel datasheets we hold, the number in the model code roughly matches the swept volume: in tenths for some series (GL 55: 5.5 cm³; NUT 55: 5.5 cm³), directly for others (GP 14: 14.17 cm³; MS 34: 34.42 cm³).
